Many people use the power of silence; half lies and full lies to their advantages. They manipulate people; use the power of information to tilt situation and people to their advantage. This will be detrimental to the spiritual life. Spiritual life is challenging because it breaks the ego. Ego likes control, certainty and stability. All these things will be broken if ones start following moral conduct of speaking truth. Actually it is equally challenging like that of sitting long hours of meditation. Some one asked what is use of meditation? The writer said it is for becoming a better human being. All religions stress on moral value and conduct, which brings in happiness and peace in the long run. The Buddhist calls it as paramis, the great patanjali calls it as yama and niyama , the jains call it moral percepts. Every religion stress on these values to make life peaceful. One can be rich yet not be peaceful. Peace of mind and good health is what most people want in the long run. Speaking truth will create difficulties, complication because karma gets purified. Of course expecting oneself to be told as a nice man will not happen with truth. Soul wise and spiritual wise there will be progress. But material wise loss can come for some time. It also makes one’s own life more challenging. One needs to walk on one’s own advice. Some people can speak truth and still be accepted. Due to karma one can lose life if one speaks the truth. Some people can lose job or lose marriage because of speaking the truth. Such is the evil karma one has done. It is not too late in the day. One can pray and face the consequences and make spiritual progress. This is not worldly wisdom but other worldly wisdom. Speaking truth is necessity and not a luxury in spiritual life. I have seen and heard some spiritual gurus sleeping with women and claiming to be spiritually advanced. I was shocked to hear when one of biggest name in adviatha doing such immoral act and still being a teacher. These kind of contradictions will be solved and do less damage to oneself and others by speaking the truth. It requires not guts but plain common sense to see damage created to self and others by speaking lies.
