Many people want to become spiritual full time. But they have work and commitment towards their family which does not allow them to practice full time spirituality. There are paths which is common pattern for most spiritual people.
1. The first style is that of Pamban swami style. He got married had kids and slowly let go of the world in a step by step manner. Same method was followed by the swami Ramdas of kanjakadu who lost money in business and was rescued by his friend. He took to spirituality.
2. The second style is that of bhagwan ramana . Bhagawan Realized truth, left the birth place, dropped money and clothes found a cave and settled. Almost similar pattern is seen by the great Nityanada Of Ganesapuri who performed lot of miracles.
3. The third style is like that of Hazrat Inyanat Khan. At the peak of fame in sitar his teacher asked him drop music for sadhana and he gladly did it.
4. There is another pattern like the shanthamma of ramana ashram or the mother krishna bai. Marriage or no marriage, external life becomes torture. They dropped every thing at the seeing of the guru.
5. The last style is that of the great jetsun milarepa who did the black magic and due to guru grace and Himalayan effort reached the very peak of vajraayana tantra. Similar pattern can be seen by many people life. Some of them are drunkard, womanizer or murderer who turns in to new leaf with the grace of god. Tukaram‘s obsession for his wife is the best example.
The veil of Maya covers the soul. Some of veils are mastering physical activity, education, work, success in work, marriage and having children. Past lives habits, desires and obsession will dominate most of the soul who need lot of effort to come out of it. Obsession towards money power and fame need to be dropped for the sake of sadhana. Worldly failures and pain helps soul to propel faster in the world of sadhana. Most of the great people in spiritual some how were never allowed to succeed in material world, in fact they all drop material success and became simple. Of the most difficult to drop is the urge to become famous instead of doing sadhana. People generally want to do little sadhana and become famous. Devil comes in the form of praise. Until the final goal is reached one should not abandon any thing for sadhana. Messiahs are born and not made, advertised and manufactured. Their birth, circumstances, situations are very early pointers. chaitanya mahaprabhu’s body had golden luster even as a child. When Buddha and Nanak was born very early greatness was indicated. To paraphrase Shakespeare.
