I have learnt in the working with corporate that the best prizes do not go to the men who are talented or can bring in success but to the political correct ones. When I was consultant to one of the biggest Internet organization I observed certain noble truths, which will be helpful in any one career.

Politics do exist. See that it does not hurt u.
Politician generally are not skillful or mega talented. They are generally afraid of people who are talented.
Generally they observe a lot, talk less and share ideas slowly.
They listen to changes in environment very easily and take side which are favorable.
They will never help people without getting some thing in return.
If you oppose them, they will surely involve in sabotaging you.
Longer they can stick around greater the person political skill.
The talk slowly, smiles a lot and makes statements, which are vague.
They cannot say no directly.
