MASTERING PRAYER WITH OUT CEASING

Once I met a house wife who told me
that could not do meditation. I remembered the words of my teacher
due to god’s grace. "Master prayer in action. Even at the time of
death this will be useful".
First of all make the path, deity and
guru clear. Then one can use the techniques. The key point is, at
the beginning, middle and end of all actions remember the mantra and
consecrate all the actions to the deity. Start with the mantra and
chant as you work with end that activity with the mantra. For
example
-
before bath ,after the bath, and as
you bath,
-
Before defecation after and middle
of it.
-
Before you sit for your work, as
your work and at the end of the work.
-
before and the end of conversation
and middle of pauses.
-
Before one get up or after or in the
middle
-
Before one goes to sleep or after
when one awakes.
-
Before u eat after and in the middle
as chew u very morsel.
-
Before wearing shirt or keeping
objects.
If this order is followed then it
will be easy. My wife enquired Swami shantananda as to why he cracks
up so many jokes. For that he replied “I crack jokes because when
people laugh I remember the divine in the gaps” what a level of
awareness!
While traveling, do not allow your
mind in idle chatter. Normally the mind gets bored and wants to
talks on some thing. My teacher calls it as inner dhun. He said
every one has inner sound but then it is confused, automatic and not
clear. Keep focused on mantra. Keep this dhun in god. You can also
bless every one who has any kind of suffering in the road like the
beggars, the invalids, the elderly, the children, the healthy for
better health and the egoistic for transformation.
If I go in for long distant travel, I
keep minimum mantra chanting. Let us say if the journey is 8 hours
then at least chanting of 50 malas of short mantra can be done.
Personally I will chant 10 malas, if it is a long mantra. When bus
stops or in between some conversation arises I deal with it in a
positive manner. I will also do it with minimum sound which is
called as upamasu. Avoid a bus which has video and audio facilities.
Before starting the conversation in
telephone or with people chant your prayer. – Your silence will
improve, sensitivity will be sharp, you will be less prone to fights
and detachments will happen automatically. You will be kind in words
and this will happen automatically. Awareness alertness and
witnessing will happen. Repetitions may not be needed.
When you have problem, first pray and
try to act. Then you will have sense of peace, objectivity and
clarity to solve or accept any problems. Normally people do it other
way round. They act then they get frustrated when things do not
happen. Only then people turn towards god for the problem to get
solved.
Start with 3 times then slowly
increase the frequency to 10 – 12 chants. One can also do with only
bija akshara. Om aum etc.
When you realize that every moment is
precious and death can happen any moment, using every action, words
and meeting of people as the way to remember god becomes easy. maya
means not remembering divine gnana means remembering name of god
which is the very essence of all religion.
