The great prayers of Francis of Assisi sums up beautifully lord make me 


Instrument of your peace. Many people work for their sake, next level

 is family sake, next is society sake, then for world sake ultimately is

for lord sake. In the world of competition, putting down others, destroying

others is taught. These are the kind of work, which will make your physical

world materially prosperous but soul wise restless. It is like a man who has

every thing but misses some thing in life. 



First get yourself connected with god this is longest step. If there is work to be

done then the divine will tell you. It is act of providence. Our main work is

connecting to god with prayer. This if it is done with unceasing prayer of interiority,

then the divine will show the way. Many people want to be great, socially recognized

and leave a lasting imprint in the sands of time. The greatest men who are remembered

were not the men who made money but people who did prayers. Avilla, Assisi, Ramakrishna

saibaba are fine examples. Work is for the sake of god and in India they call it karma yoga.

Gibran pours this thought in his poetry so aptly as



And what is it to work with love?


It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, 


even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth.


It is to build a house with affection, 


As if you’re beloved were to dwell in that house.


It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy, 


As if your beloved were to eat the fruit.


It is to charge all things you fashion with a breath of your own 
spirit, And to

know that all the blessed dead are standing about you and watching.


How does your work create impact on others is defined beautifully in the prayer of Assisi as 


Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;


Where there is doubt, faith;


Where there is despair, hope;


Where there is darkness, light;


Where there is sadness, joy; 


O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to 
Console;

To be understood as to understand; 
To be loved as to love. 


What happens to you when you work like that -


For it is in giving that we receive; 


It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; 


And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.



There are many times we will be doubtful about the world, which has forgotten the soul work.

We will compare our work with others. There will be period of doubts, difficulties, pains and

intense struggle before the soul chooses the path of divine. This is normal. The corporate rat race

has to stop and it will require lot of courage. We are born for some thing noble than what we

aspire to be, there is more to life than just material pursuits. 


May all beings find the right work as what divine Buddha said in his 8 noble paths.



There is no higher or lower work any work can be made divine provided there is right attitude.

Some people find meaning with computer, some with social service, some with astrology. Each

one will find meaning in their work in their own way.
