HOW TO MEDITATE CONSISTENTLY

Myself and my friend went for meditation retreat in thiruvanmalai. We wanted meditate every day for 8 – 10 hours. First day we meditated for 3- 4 hours, got bored and were waiting for lunch to be served in athithi ashram. Then it becomes a routine to run here and there. Never had we sat for meditation. I realized that one needs lot of discipline and training before one ventures for long term meditations.

Many people even find doing 10 meditation retreats very difficult to do. We also find it easy to go external activity. The main reason is lack of practice. 

Any way few tricks of the trade is there, which will help you stabilize the practice. I am also grateful to great guru padma sambhava in the book dakiji teaching which explains these teachings very clearly.

Taking refuge.

 

  • Abandon The Fever Of Conquering Samasara

  • Trying To Make More Money,

  • Leave The Idea Of Changing Fault Of Others.

  • Abandon The Fault Fining Mind.

  • Keep Ur Meditation Success In Secret

  • Meditate On Suffering of Samsara

  • These Are Ways One Become Strong In Meditation

 

Before U Start The Meditation-

  • Thank God, Divine Forces For Allowing U To Meditate.Normally One Can Say

  • “ To The Nameless Formless God I Thank U So Much For Allowing Me To Practice Meditation”.

  • To the great rishi mandala, the great beings of light holy master and holy angles I thank u for allowing me to meditate.

  • I thank all the traditions teacher preserver of knowledge.

 

Then taking refuge

 

  • God please help me to meditate deeply. May the blocks difficulties caused by my karma and external forces be over come. I go in to your refuge.

  • Then go refuge with the deity you have chosen. ---- ( deity name )  please help me to meditate deeply . May the blocks difficulties caused by my karma and external forces be over come. I go in to your refuge.

  • Then take refuge with the guru who consider. This can be serious of guru or single one whom u feel inspired. Guru -------  please help me to meditate deeply . May the blocks difficulties caused by my karma and external forces be over come. I go in to your refuge.

  • Then take refuge of all enlightened masters. Guru -------  please help me to meditate deeply . May the blocks difficulties caused by my karma and external forces be over come. I go in to your refuge

  • Then take refuge for all the people trying for enlightenment.  Guru -------  please help me to meditate deeply . May the blocks difficulties caused by my karma and external forces be over come. I go in to ur refuge.

 

Ask for forgiveness-     for hurting people-  known and unknown.

 

Thinking-  it is privilege to meditate. Think of how many times u wanted meditate u did not have the time place energy circumstances, situations which was not conducive for meditation. Think how many life times, how many years days u have missed meditation. Take a resolve and vow to go in meditation deeply.

 

Start the meditation.

 

After the meditation is over do the following.

 

  • Bless the world, the state, the place u live, your family friends, work money etc. bless this will help u release the extra energy. If u do not bless then energy will stagnate. It looks so easy and elementary but will give u good results.

  • Thank the divine

  • Holy master thanks for allowing me to meditate may u give me inspiration to meditate tomorrow or the next sessions.

  • Thank the deity -Holy deity, thanks for allowing me to meditate may u give me inspiration to meditate tomorrow or the next sessions

  • Thank the rishis holy master , holy angels and being of light.

  • Holy rishis  thanks for allowing me to meditate may u give me inspiration to meditate tomorrow or the next sessions.

 

Ask for protection-For maintaining equanimity, non anger, patience, loving kindness.

 

Put your psychic protection- Many people energy will be sensitive after meditation they will easily pick up psychic garbage and emotions of people. In order to avoid it put psychic protection in all seven chakras. U can also  do anga vandam given in vashinavite sampradaya.

 

Do visualization for few minutes

  • Think of suffering in relationship.

  • Think world as dream.

  • Think of 8 snares of life.

  • Think of death.

  • Think of all kind of impermanence.

 

Then you leave the meditation seat.-

 

 Thanking the seat, the boom devi,then the people known and unknown who helped u to meditate

 

Once you do this, then you will see the enormous differences in quality, quantity meditation. Stability in meditation will arise.
