Take the example of sun TV. The name is in English. Some one known to me as a client said that sun TV before it took the name in English tried the Tamil name as suryan tholai chatti. It turned out to be a big flop. When they changed name in English as Sun TV it became a smash hit. The reason is all along Mr. Karunanidhi was against English. His party’s manifesto and just to sustain power he had to compromise all these principles. Tamilnadu is one of the best English speaking states in India and in fact many people feel proud to talk English than in Tamil. He came to power by fighting the imposition of Hindi language in the Tamil speaking state. They made a movie which showed how Tamil language teacher suffers a lot and ultimately dies in a most pathetic manner.
Secondly take the communist who had to fight against their own people for the sake of Tata’s in west Bengal today. These things would be unimaginable in a state like west Bengal few decades ago. Take the same communist in Russia who had to embrace the market reform. Take the case of Americans who had fight against Muslims who they dearly supported during the cold war period. They have one of the best labor laws in the world. There was lady who I know. She used to oppose a man and wrote against him in the internet. Any kind of success will always be put down. Ultimately the same lady had to appreciate him and support him in a project. God makes us humble by making us to eat our own words. just that we all forget it. I met a Christian lady saint of the benediction order of Mary Louis who said that what is full will be made empty and what is empty will be made full. Such are the mysterious ways of the lord. When we fight for principles and torture others in the name of tradition we forget that every thing is god and he will make us humble. Next time when we are defeated in a subtle manner our ego never recognizes it.
