Many people assume that enlightenment is for every one. It is not all true. In this world there are invisible barriers. For example many people assume that every one can become billionaire, but very few people can in fact become.
Barrier of place- take the city of London if one sees very few enlightened people would have been born in this place. Take the place of Himalayas we hear many saints living in this place. Take the holy city of beneras where saints like the great lahairi mahasaya etc lived. There fore in the city of New York or Washington there are more chances of one become rich than getting enlightened.
Barrier of family – many people have to rebel against the family to go into the spiritual path. For example in my house though many people are religious, but to take up profession like astrology required huge courage. Like this there are other barriers.
Social barrier- one needs money to live, one should worship god in old age and all these barrier need to be broken. Fine example is Rama Krishna parmahamsa never touched money. Many people cover there greed, material desires in the name of spirituality. Some of the so called gurus also encourage the tendency due to force of maya. Each sadhaka will come to a point where the mass is going in one direction and spirituality is pulling into another direction. One has to let go of the mass and start trusting inner guidance.
Then there is lineage barrier, then there is work barrier – certain profession will not allow to pursue spiritual path for example selling liquor or being a butcher. Certain lineage like doctors or lawyers will find it more difficult to get enlightened due to karmic mess they create due to professions.
Then there is barrier of time- each yuga manvantra , varsha only few people can opnly get enlightened. It is like a CA exams or MBA very few people are given the privilege and pass port. Of course one can try to break this barrier in sadhana.
